Ancestry may be associated with broad anatomical patterns, but there is substantial variation within every population. Planning should preserve identity and evaluate form and breathing together.
Asian ancestry
Some patients may have a lower bridge, thicker skin, a wider base or less tip projection; others do not. Support or augmentation may be more appropriate than automatic reduction.
European ancestry
Some patients may have a higher bridge, dorsal convexity or greater projection. This is not a universal template or default aesthetic standard.
African ancestry
Some patients may have thicker skin, a lower or wider bridge, broader base or softer tip support. Refinement should protect the nasal valves and cultural identity.
Septum + turbinates
Septoplasty straightens an obstructing septum when indicated. Conservative turbinate reduction may improve space while preserving the surface that warms and humidifies air; routine removal is not assumed.
